Sports club, tennis federation partner in training of junior players

Anothai Sporting Club and the Lao Tennis Federation are joining forces to improve training for junior tennis players aged 10 to 16, in the hope they will make sufficient progress to build a strong national team.
The two parties held a press conference on Thursday to outline their plans to further the development of junior tennis players.
Officials from the Ministry of Education and Sports, President of the Tennis Federation Mr Daovone Phachanthavong, and members of Anothai Sporting Club took part in the press conference.
Mr Daovone thanked the club for funding the development of junior tennis players and its financial support for tennis players at the Talented Sports and Physical Education School, amounting to 90 million kip a year.
Anothai Sporting Club hopes to encourage more young players to take to the courts at the club, saying this will give them more opportunities to compete at international tennis events in the future.
The club also provides tennis balls and trainers for national level players in added attempts to strengthen their skills and inspire enthusiasm for the game.
National level players regularly put in practice on the club’s courts.
The club plans to host tennis tournaments every year and will work more closely with the Lao Tennis Federation to hold other tennis events.
Laos’ junior players have been successful at international tennis events in neighbouring countries and have won several medals.
