Laos to face tough opponent in AFF semis

Lao footballers will a strong opponent in Thailand, when they take on a squad from that country in the semi-finals of the AFF Under-23 Championship at the Morodok Techo National Sports Complex in Cambodia on February 24 at 4pm.
Thailand is in second place in Group C, after going down 1-0 to Vietnam on Tuesday.
On the same day, Timor Leste will face Vietnam at 7:30pm in the other semi-final.
Laos’ new head coach Mr Michael Weiss said it would be hard for the team to make improvements to their play before competing in the semi-finals.
This is the first time that Mr Weiss has led the Lao team in these championships, and it remains to be seen whether he can guide the side to victory and a place in the finals, or whether Thursday’s match will be their last appearance in the tournament.
Lao fans will throw all their support behind the team when they take to the pitch for their most challenging encounter in the championships so far.
The players will have to employ all their wit and guile if they are to defeat strong favourites Thailand in the semi-final.
Good teamwork will be needed so they can pass the ball to each other at critical moments, while fitness will also play a part in determining the outcome of this match.
The team will have to work together to create goal-scoring opportunities if they are to have any chance of finding the back of the net.
The teams playing in Group A of the competition comprise host Cambodia, Timor Leste, the Philippines and Brunei, while Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore are facing off in Group C.
