Lao tennis stars enjoy tournament success

The winners of the Anothai Open Tennis Tournament 2022, who came from Vientiane and three provinces, on Sunday received cups after competing in the event at the Anothai Sporting Club in Vientiane.
Competitions comprised men’s doubles, with matches played by senior officials in groups B, C and D and A+B, mixed doubles, and men’s singles in A, B and C groups at the beginner level.
The tournament was attended by tennis players and national players from Vientiane and Luang Prabang, Savannakhet and Champassak provinces. 
Matches were played from March 25 to April 3, with the aim of raising players’ skill levels and giving them some competition practice.
It was also an opportunity for national players to hone their skills in the run up to the 31st South-East Asian (SEA) Games taking place in Vietnam in May.
In addition, players from the provinces got in some practice ahead of competition in the 11th National Games, which will be hosted by Xieng Khuang province in December.
The cup presentation at the end of the tournament on Sunday was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Education and Sports, President of the Lao Tennis Federation Mr Daovone Phachanthavong, and members of Anothai Sporting Club.
Mr Daovone said more tennis competitions would be held at the Chao Anouvong tennis courts this month.
The Anothai Open Tennis Tournament 2022 was sponsored by several companies.
Anothai Sporting Club’s goal is to encourage more young players to improve their skill levels and join the national team so they can represent Laos at international tennis events in the future.
