Federation rewards SEA Games tennis players
The Lao Tennis Federation on Tuesday presented cash prizes to a bronze medalist and other tennis players after they returned from the SEA Games in Vietnam this week.

The federation awarded bonuses of more than 100 million kip to the successful players.
Federation President Mr Daovone Phachanthavong presented US$5000 to bronze medalist Mick Lescure Sadettan for his success in the men’s singles and other cash prizes to male and female tennis players and trainers.
Other senior officials from the federation and various organisations provided cash prizes to the players and trainers.
The bronze medal in tennis was a historic event for Laos at the SEA Games and raises the bar for future players, who will now look to build on this success.
The award presentation ceremony was attended by the Vice President and Secretary of the National Olympic Committee of Laos, Mr Somphou Phongsa, senior officials, and tennis players.
Mr Daovone said “We will provide more support for tennis players so they are well prepared for competition at the SEA Games in Cambodia next year.”
The federation will arrange tennis tournaments to encourage more junior players to up their game, especially in the provinces, where unrevealed talent may emerge. The overall aim is for tennis players to become more professional in their attitude to the sport and be better prepared for competition.
Mr Daovone asked for more support for young tennis players so they had more training opportunities and a greater chance of rising up the ladder.
Tennis players will now turn their attention to the SEA Games in Cambodia and spend the next 12 months in rigorous training.
Mick Lescure Sadettan will return to France, where he will train for participation in local tournaments and also aims to compete in other international events this year.
Mick said he hopes to return to Laos to bolster the team’s chances of picking up another medal at the games in Cambodia next year.
The federation thanked him for his participation in the Vietnam games, and praised his bronze medal win.
