Laos pulling out all the stops in gold medal attempt

Lao athletes taking part in the SEA Games in Vietnam are putting their best foot forward and straining every sinew in a bid to bring home a gold medal from the prestigious competition.
So far their efforts have not met with success, but they will press on in the hope of a glorious victory before the close of the games next week.
The sports teams and their fans are hoping and praying for success, with fans cheering on the athletes with roars and flags at every appearance.
The athletes have until May 23 to prove their prowess, and have not lost heart as they battle on in the various competitions.
Over the course of the SEA Games to date, from May 12-17, Laos has won one silver and 13 bronze medals, while Vietnam is in top place with 88 gold, 54 silver and 55 bronze medals.
Lao runners had planned to compete in the men’s 100 metres and men’s 400 metre hurdles events.
Unfortunately, the team had to pull out of the 4x100 metre hurdle event because some of the runners picked up injuries.
Laos’ top runner Anousone Xaysa came fourth with a personal best time of 14.09 seconds in the final of the men’s 110 metre hurdle event on Monday.
Athletes taking part in the race came from Thailand, Laos, the Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia.
In first place was Clinton from the Philippines, followed by Ang Chen Xiang from Singapore and Nathapone from Thailand in third place.
The Lao men’s football team’s dream of success came to an end on Monday.
In total, 24 teams from Laos are taking part in the SEA Games.
At the previous edition of the games held in the Philippines in 2019, Laos won a gold medal in kickboxing.
