Laos draw against Singapore, eye win against Cambodia at SEA Games

The Lao men’s football team is gearing up to achieve victory over Cambodia at the SEA Games in Vietnam on Monday, after drawing 2-2 against Singapore in their first match of the games on Saturday.
Although the Lao side couldn’t pull off a win, Lao fans were satisfied with the result after a closely contested game.
The squad is now determined to up their game and put up an even stronger defence against Cambodia, in the hope of coming away with a victory.
The players hope to get a win or a draw, but must not lose if they want to advance in the high stakes football event.
Laos has been drawn in Group B and, moving forward, the battle will get tougher, as the team is scheduled to play top guns Malaysia and Thailand on May 11 and May 16 respectively.
Group A comprises Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Timor Leste.
The Lao squad hope to clock up enough points to make it through to the semi-finals and even the final.
The Lao Football Federation has promised to give the team 100 million kip for each win, plus a bonus.
In the run up to the SEA Games, Laos played two friendly international matches on home soil last month, winning both encounters.
Most of the squad have also had recent experience of international competition at the AFF Under-23 Championship in Cambodia, which took place in February.
