Lao Football Federation names players for SEA Games
The Lao Football Federation (LFF) has announced the names of the 32 footballers who will form the men’s team competing at the 31st South-East Asian (SEA) Games in Vietnam next month.
The squad is comprised of players from the Army and from Ezra, Youth Elephants, Master Seven and other football clubs, and Champassak, Vientiane, Savannakhet and Luang Prabang provinces. Some of the team members have played for Thai football clubs in League 1 and League 2.
Many of the players are in the national U-23 squad.
The footballers are now training at the National Stadium to boost their fitness levels and improve their tactics on the pitch. They are being coached by Mr Michael Weiss.
They have been engaged in a rigorous training regimen since April 18 and will travel to Vietnam at the start of next month.
The team has been drawn in Group B together with Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia and Singapore.
Group A comprises Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Timor Leste.
According to the programme, Laos will face Singapore on May 5, Cambodia on May 9, Malaysia on May 11, and Thailand on May 16.
Laos won two friendly international matches held in Vientiane last month and most of the players have also had recent experience of international competition at the AFF Under-23 Championship in Cambodia, which took place in February.
