Runners and representatives of sponsors on Monday hold a press conference ahead of the Team We Run charity half marathon.

Half marathon to raise funds for children’s hospital

A half marathon in support of the Lao Friends Hospital for Children in Luang Prabang province is taking place between Vientiane and Luang Prabang from October 25-30.
The runners will start from Vientiane on October 25 and will reach in Luang Prabang province on October 30.
The goal is to raise 900 million kip in support of the children’s hospital.
Team We Run held a press conference in Vientiane on Monday to outline preparations for the charity half marathon, which was attended by representatives of sponsors. 
Also present were runners Mr Masaaki Kawabata from Japan, Mr Nimmane Phanpaseuth from Laos, Mr Daniel Ose from Germany, and Mr Ryan Cacayan from the Philippines.
They will be supported by several other relay runners and a support crew. This diverse team of locals and expats is motivated to use their passion for running to help Lao children. This heroic effort takes weeks of dedication, training and preparation.
By October 17, Team We Run had collected about 75 million kip in aid of the children’s hospital.
In the future, Team We Run hopes to organise more half marathons to support worthy causes in other provinces of Laos.
A previous run raised money to support activities in Attapeu province.
