Vientiane, Champassak to face off in national football champs

The finals of the women’s game in the LFF National Football Championship will be battled out between Vientiane and Champassak province, with the match taking place at the National Stadium on Friday evening.

Vientiane looks to have the edge over Champassak because they have some national level players in the squad. They will also be the favourites with the crowd as they are playing on home ground and their supporters will be very vocal.
The Champassak side will need to use some effective tactics to overcome their rivals and play an attacking game in the hope of getting balls into the back of the net.
They struggled to make it into the final during their semi-final match on Wednesday but managed to clinch a 2-1 win over Xieng Khuang.
In the other semi-final game, Vientiane overpowered Oudomxay 4-2 in a penalty shootout.
The winner of the championship will receive 100 million kip, medals and a cup, while the runner-up will walk away with 50 million kip and medals.
The championship has been contested by women’s teams from nine provinces and is taking place from October 9-21.
The four teams that reached the semi-finals have benefitted from some tightly fought games and have gained some useful experience on the pitch.
They will continue to train to improve their skills ahead of the 11th National Games, which take place in Xieng Khuang province in December.
The host province will be especially keen to reach the finals and put a smile on the faces of local supporters after having narrowly suffered defeat in the semis in Vientiane on Wednesday.   
The Lao Brewery Company has donated 1,330,000,000 kip in support of the women’s and men’s teams playing in the LFF National Football Championship and will also sponsor the National Games.
The men’s national championship matches will be played from October 31 to November 12.
