Lao Brewery Company steps in to sponsor National Football Championship

The Lao Football Federation (LFF) and Lao Brewery Co., Ltd. on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding in support of the LFF National Football Championship, which will take place in Vientiane this month and next.   
The brewery has provided 1,330 million kip for the championship, under an agreement signed by LFF President Mr Viphet Sihachakr and the Managing Director of Lao Brewery Company, Mr Henrik Andersen.
The championship matches will be played at the National Football Stadium, the LFF’s football pitch, and the Army Football Club stadium.
The championship will be contested by women’s teams from nine provinces, with matches to be played from October 9-21, while 16 men’s teams will battle it out for supremacy during matches scheduled from October 31 to November 12. 
The women’s teams will play in two groups and the men’s teams in four groups.
The winners of the men’s and women’s tournament will each get 100 million kip, a cup and medals, while the second-placed teams will receive 50 million kip and medals.
The best footballers, scorers, trainers and goalkeepers will be given special souvenirs.
The Lao Football Federation last held the National Championships in 2020, which was also supported by the Lao Brewery Company. The event was cancelled in 2021 because of the Covid-19 outbreak.
The younger generation of footballers are showing more promise, with encouraging results at regional competitions, so Beerlao is pleased to continue to sponsor football, futsal and other sporting events.
Three years ago, the company sponsored the Pepsi Lao Premier League 1 and two years ago lent its backing to a national football competition to celebrate the 45th National Day.
The Lao Football Federation sees this year’s championship as a chance for football clubs around the country to prepare for the 11th National Games, which will take place in Xieng Khuang province in December.
The Lao Brewery Company will also sponsor this event and has donated 1,500 million kip in sponsorship money to Xieng Khuang province.
Some years ago, the company supported Lao Premier League matches in Vientiane and this year provided funding for the Vientiane Boat Racing Festival and other social activities.
