Tennis federation officials and tournament winners on Friday gather at the Vientiane Tennis Club for the presentation of trophies.

Tennis aces score trophies at Vientiane tournament

Winners in various categories of the Vientiane Tennis Club Tournament collected trophies at the close of the tournament on Friday, which took place from August 6-20.
The tournament comprised boys’ singles events in the U-12 and U-16 age groups, open U-35 and U-45 events, and men’s doubles in the over 40, 55 and senior official categories.
The trophies were presented by the President of the Lao Tennis Federation, Mr Daovone Phachanthavong.
The tournament was a friendly event arranged for junior tennis players and government officials, who were all able to improve their skills.
Speaking at the close of the tournament, the President of the Vientiane Tennis Club, Mr Xayadeth Vongxay, said “We plan to hold regular events at this club to develop the skills of junior players and young people, so they are able to represent Vientiane and the national tennis team at national and international competitions in the future.”
On the same occasion, the Vientiane Tennis Club was officially opened after previously being known as the Chao Anouvong Tennis Club.
The facility has been upgraded and will now be called the Vientiane Tennis Club to reflect its citywide representation.
The tournament was supported by several sponsors who provided the trophies and cash prizes.
