Lao student sports teams will compete at the 11th National Games hosted by Xieng Khuang province in November-December following their success at the 20th Asean University Games in Udon Ratchathani province of Thailand.
The Lao student athletes won five gold, eight silver and 18 bronze medals at the Asean University Games.
Many provinces and ministries will support the medal-winning students for the National Games.
The Lao student sports team competed in 12 events - track and field, petanque, muay, taekwondo, karate-do, pencak silat, men’s football, sepak takraw, beach volleyball, badminton, table tennis and e-sports - at the Asean University Games.
There will be a total of 12 events at the upcoming National Games. The host province of Xieng Khuang is fully prepared for organising the games.
The National Games will be an opportunity for the sports federations of Laos to select the best athletes to compete in the SEA Games, which will be hosted by Cambodia in May 2023.
