Luang Prabang celebrates Olympics Day with sports events

More than 2,000 senior officials from various organisations, students and children on Friday morning gathered for activities in Luang Prabang city to celebrate mark International Olympics Day.
The programme of events included cycling, running, basketball, and a walk through the city centre.
Everyone enjoyed the occasion and the opportunity for socialising and to build fitness.
The opening ceremony was led by the Governor of Luang Prabang province, Mr Khamkhan Chanthavisouk, and representatives of the Ministry of Education and Sports and the National Olympic Committee of Laos.
At the completion of the events, medals and certificates were presented to students, children and other participants.
The National Olympic Committee selected Luang Prabang as the location for activities to mark International Olympics Day.
The International Olympics Committee was established in June 1894 and since then has organised the Olympic Games every four years.
