The immortal achievement of Lao and Korean leaders in 48 years of diplomatic ties

Today, the people of the DPR Korea and the Lao DPR marks the 48th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries.
On the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries, June 24, 1974-June 24, 2022. The immortal achievement of the leaders of the two countries in strengthening and developing the bilateral relations.
On this day, the peoples of the two countries are once again looking back the history of the development of bilateral friendly relation.
The year of 1974, which is 48 years ago from now, has witnessed a positive trend in which the peoples in the developing countries were emerging as masters on the history and writing new pages in favour of their will and interest under the banner of independence.
In this context of the historical situation, the DPR Korea and the Lao DPR has established diplomatic relations on June 24, 1974.

The close friendly relationship between the two countries has been strengthened and developed through the times to the direction of contributing to implementing the common cause of the people of the two countries to secure the people’s interests and social progress.
All of these could never be successful without the immortal merits achieved by the preceded leaders of the two countries in developing the bilateral relationship.
The former leaders of the two countries have strengthened the mutual support and cooperation,and extended solidarity to each other in their struggled to oppose the imperialism and solidify the national unity.
There had been a meaningful meeting between Comrade Souphanouvong, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Lao Patriotic Front, and Comrade Kim Il Sung, the Great Leader of the Korean people on the occasion of the commemorative event celebrating the 10thanniversary of the Bandung Conference, in Jakarta, Indonesia, in April 1965, and from since the bilateral relationship has brought about endless meaningful episodes.
There have been official friendly visits to DPR Korea by the leaders of the Lao PDR including the visits by Comrade Kaysone Phomvihane, General Secretary of the LPRP in the year of 1965, 1970, 1977 and 1992, and the visit by comrade Khamtay Siphandone, Chairman of the LPRP and the prime minister of the Lao PDR in December, 1993. In September, 2011, the Party and government delegation of the Lao PDR, headed by comrade Choummaly Sayasone made an official friendly visit to the DPR Korea.
During their visit to the DPR Korea, they made meaningful meetings with Comrade Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, the great leaders of the Korean People and further enriched the history of bilateral friendship relations.
The friendly relations have been continuously advancing and developing without any deterioration through the times of complex surge of international situations, grounded by the formidable will of the leaders and the parties of the two countries to adhere to the achievements made by the preceded leaders in developing the bilateral relationship.
The fraternal Korean people sincerely congratulate the achievements made by the Lao Party and Lao people in their struggle in fulfilling the decisions of the 11thCongress of the Party and steadily support the Party and the government in their struggle to oppose internal and external hostilities including interventions, disruptions and social instabilities, to strengthen the people’s democracy and to achieve the country’s prosperity.
The traditional cooperative relations of friendship between the DPR Korea and the Lao DPR contains the great efforts and leadership of the preceded leaders and it is the steadfast stand and will of our two Parties and governments to further advance the relationship to a higher level as with the noble aspirations of the leaders of the two countries.
The DPR Korea and the Lao people will stand shoulder by shoulder to overcome all kinds of hardship and challenges and to push forward vigorously to the common purpose of socialist construction.
The friendship, unity and cooperation between the parties, the states, and the peoples of the DPR Korea and the Lao DPR has been inherited and developed without any change, overcoming the historical hardship and challenges, and this will be everlasting.
