Lao government awards labour medal to the Head of China Radio International in Laos

The Head of China Radio International (CRI) to Laos, Ms Mo Xiaoling, also known by her Lao name Sengkeo, is very happy and proud of the labour medal she was awarded by the Lao government at the beginning of this month.
Ms Mo Xiaoling was presented with the labour medal together with the Director of the Lao Language Division of the Asia-Africa Centre of Television and Radio Station in central China, Ms Hua Chummei, by the Lao government, represented by Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Mrs Suanesavanh Vignaket, in recognition of their efforts to promote friendship between Laos and China.
Mrs Suanesavanh also represented the Lao government in presenting a certificate to the Head of CRI’s news division, Mr Xu Delin, for his work in the Lao language division of CMG on the switchover of broadcasts from AM to the FM93 MHz channel in Vientiane.
The medal presentation ceremony took place at the National Culture Hall in Vientiane on May 6, and was attended by a large number of Lao and Chinese officials. It was also one of many activities marking the 61st anniversary of diplomatic relations between Laos and China.
Ms Mo Xiaoling said “I am very happy and honoured to receive a labour medal from the Lao government on the occasion of the 61st anniversary of diplomatic relations between Laos and China.”
“This medal is very important and meaningful for me. It not only recognises the work done by myself and my colleagues, but also serves to congratulate all the Chinese and Lao staff working at CRI, as well as at the Lao Language Division of the Asia-Africa Centre of Television and Radio Station in central China, particularly on the CRI channel FM 93 MHz,” Ms Mo Xiaoling said.
“On behalf of all Chinese who learn Lao, I feel that I am very lucky to contribute to the important task of promoting the relationship between the Parties and states of Laos and China.”
“I started learning Lao 30 years ago and have worked in Laos for 10 years. My daughter has attended kindergarten and primary school in Laos and is in now in secondary school here. It can be said that Laos has become my second home. I like and love Laos very much, and I am pleased to be working here and to contribute to promoting and enhancing the friendship and relations between Laos and China forever.”
“I would like to thank the Lao government, and especially Minister Suanesavanh Vignaket, for awarding me this labour medal, as well as my Chinese friends on this occasion.”
Ms Mo Xiaoling was born in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in the south of China. She graduated with a Bachelor Degree majoring in Lao language at a Chinese university in Guangxi. After graduation she applied to work with the Lao Language Division of CRI in Beijing and, while working there, was sent on a one-year Lao language course at the National University of Laos.
In 2011 she was assigned to be the Head of CRI to Laos and came to work in Vientiane. She led the establishment of the CRI to Laos and supervised the work of the radio station from 2011 until the present.
CRI to Laos has developed in all respects and now produces many products to serve the public, in keeping with changing trends in media delivery.
Ms Mo Xiaoling said it had been a big challenge for her and it had not been easy heading up the establishment of CRI to Laos in Vientiane because she wasn’t a Lao citizen and always had to speak Lao.
She led the staff in all aspects of work, including sourcing tools and equipment for the office and training new graduates. She was responsible for developing the radio station’s operations and products. However, her efforts paid off and she achieved success, and was now very pleased with her achievements.
Ms Mo Xiaoling was awarded the labour medal by the Lao government for her outstanding contributing to the important task of promoting and enhancing the friendship and relations between Laos and China.
In addition, the government awarded her a certificate of congratulations in 2015 and a friendship medal in 2016.
