Slurp Latte Art Smackdown competition promotes coffee art
Mr Thevin Vongsaphai from Coffeefix Representative was declared the winner of the Slurp Latte Art Smackdown held at the Vientiane Centre last week to promote Lao baristas and coffee art.
Ms Phonelavanh Mangkhala from Cup of Joy Coffee House got the second place in the competition, while Mr Khampaseuth Lakhamphai from Naked Espresso got the third place.
The owner of Slurp Café, Mr Sitthadeth Champasith, who launched the Slurp Latte Art Smackdown in Laos, said this year’s competition was aimed at promoting the development of Lao baristas, including their coffee-making skills, as well as coffee and latte art. The event was also meant to show that Lao baristas are confident and coffee entrepreneurs believe in the sustainable promotion of the sector.
Mr Sitthadeth said the competition will be organised annually to lift up the standards of baristas to the international level.

This year’s competition received support from several sponsors, especially CP Meiji which provided funds and products, Food panda, which backed various activities, T Plus, Ford, Dough & Co, Saffron Coffee, Beerlao, Define, Ev Speaker, Samsung Lao, Coffeefix and Bluekoff. The media partners included Lao x, Muan.la, Lao Youth Radio and JPEG Team.
