Mega concert to mark Music Day in Vientiane

The Institut Francias du Laos has called on the public to join the fun at the Fete dela Musique or Music Day being organised by the institute in Vientiane this Saturday.
The 40th edition of Music Day has attracted almost 100 musicians who will celebrate the occasion with a mega concert.
The music event will start at 2 pm and continue till 11 pm, and entry will be free.
The music event will open with a performance by the Vientiane International Choir, which will be followed by a session of new traditional music with the Khaen, the national instrument of Laos.
There will also be an acoustic guitar performance by Vayorath Xayasomroth, new traditional music by Zero, pop music by Mak BoxBox and world music by Lompadong.
There will be a traditional Khmu performance by Tla Kap Chrill, traditional singing by Maiphim, acoustic music by Anou, ethnic chill by Louis, Latino pop by Pedro Luis, pop rock by Showfree, and rock music by Nova and Zero.
The concert will feature indie music by Phanlampadabdin, pop music by Oops, pop-rock and R&B by Urfavhook, rap metal by Nu Innovation, indie rock by Wagon, reggae music by Kyozawei, punk rock by Sokoi and reggae roots music by Lao Stafahroots.
The music event is being supported by the French Ambassador, the European Union, Kronenbourg 1664, Banque Francias-Laos (BFL) and L’Apostrophe Café.
To promote the event as Music Day 2022, the Institut Francias has uploaded news and information about the concert on social media. It has urged the public not to miss the chance to witness performances by exciting artists.
The World Day of Music or Fête de la Musique, celebrated each June 21, was first started in France but now highlights music’s universal appeal.
World Music Day is celebrated to honour musicians and singers for the gift of music, which gives flight to the imagination and life to everything. A world without music would have no meaning to many and World Music Day is observed to celebrate the power of this art.
