Laos Leading Fashion House Appointed New Head Designers

Ministry of Silk, the leading Lao based international fashion brand and its newly established sister brand NEWNORM appointed new head designers to create their new collections.

Ministry of Silk, the high-end line of the company which has its own characteristic as simplicity and elegance, appointed Mr Sunantha Phanthapanya - First Winner of Lao Young Designers 2019 who received scholarship from Lao Fashion Week’s Lao Young Designers Project to go study in ESMOD Paris, France, next year, as Head Designer for the new collection.
Sunantha or known as Somz is an active member of Lao Young Designers Project and also has his own fashion line called Suda.
The new recruitment also include Mr Nanthaveth Bubpha as the new Head Designer for NEWNORM, a more easy-going casual line under the umbrella of Ministry of Silk Fashion House.  Nanthaveth or known as Boy is the First Winner of Lao Young Designers 2018 who got scholarship from Lao Fashion Week’s Lao Young Designers Project to attend the intensive fashion design course in ESMOD Paris, France, who returned to Laos and become an active member of Lao Young Designers Project. Boy also has his own fashion label as Thaveth. “Our company’s mission is to support and give opportunities to young talents from Lao Young Designers Project so they can have platforms to showcase their creations and venture into the professional fashion industry.” Said Ms. Pany Saignavongs, Founder & CEO of Ministry of Silk, Newnorm, and Lao Fashion Week.
“Both Sunantha and Nanthaveth among many other members of Lao Young Designers Project who got scholarship to study and train in various well known international fashion academies including ESMOD Paris (France), NAFA (Singapore), London College of Fashion and Designs Hanoi (Vietnam), Fashion Institute of Philippines in Manila, and leading fashion houses in Bangkok (Thailand) are the promising future of Lao fashion industry.” Said Ms. Pany.
The new collections of Ministry of Silk and NEWNORM created by the two newly appointed Head Designers will be unveiled in August 2022.
