Winner of Youth Speech Contest 2022 announced

A young woman from Vientiane has won the Youth Speech Contest 2022 after delivering a stirring talk on the prescribed topic “The road to the future of Laos”.
Ms Samkham was named the winner by a panel of judges at the contest, which took place on Friday at the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union. In second place was Mr Aekvixay Tanh, with Ms Viengphet Phannavong coming third.
The event was organised by China Radio International and attended by Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Phosy Keomanyvong.
The contest was organised to give young people an opportunity to test their public speaking skills, and passionately convey their thoughts, dreams and aspirations through a national platform.
It was also an opportunity to build their self-confidence, express their personal opinions, and voice the thoughts and concerns of the younger generation.
A central theme of the speeches was the need to inspire and encourage young people to work together to overcome difficulties and to learn to speak out as potential influencers. The contest attracted nearly 400 participants from across the country. It was conducted over several rounds, with 10 finalists selected for the grand final on Friday.
Each of them shared their views and ideas on “The road to the future of Laos”, with reference to international situations that provide both opportunities and challenges for Laos.
