Lao dancers stage inspiring performance after Chinese training class

The 2022 Dance Training Class of Liaoning China came to a successful conclusion on Friday with a colourful performance held at the Lao National School of Arts in Vientiane.
The event was organised by the Lao National School of Arts and sponsored by the Chinese Cultural Centre in Laos and the Liaoning Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism.
Some 100 people attended the performance, including representatives of Lieu Tou Public School, the Department of Planning and Integration, Department of Culture and Arts, the Cinema Department of the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, the National Museum, Lao National Acrobatic Troupe, and the Lao National Academy of Fine Arts.
The performance began with the beautiful rhythms of the promotional film “I am Waiting for You in Liaoning”, performed by members of the dance training class.
The class was one of the key projects under the “department-provincial cooperation plan” run by the Chinese Cultural Centre in Laos and the Liaoning Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism.
The class began on June 1.
Using a video tutorial showing a folk dance called “Gameizi (Little Girls)” provided by the Liaoning side, the Lao National School of Arts invited students to participate in the training under the guidance of a professional dance teacher.
There were a total of 35 participants including students of dance from the National University of Laos and professional dancers from the Lao National Art Troupe.
After more than a month of intensive offline training, the students successfully completed the course and passed the Chinese dance competition organised by the school on July 4.
Three groups of outstanding students (15 in total) won the first, second and third prizes and encouragement awards.
In the final performance, 20 students performed the wonderful “Gameizi (Little Girls)” dance together, inviting guests, teachers and students to admire the special charms of Chinese dance.
Students also sang the Chinese song “ My Motherland and Me”, played the Chinese song “The Beautiful Night” accompanied by erhu and violins, and performed the Lao dances “Celebrate Victory” and “Joy of Harvest”.
The performances were well received and there was warm applause from the guests, teachers and students.
Yiping Li, Head of the Chinese Cultural Centre in Laos, and Van Phan, Head of the Lao National School of Arts, presented certificates to the students and delivered speeches on behalf of their two organisations.
They expressed a wish to continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the field of culture and arts and to enhance the friendly relations between the peoples of China and Laos.
The “Gameizi (Little Girls)” dance comes from Liaoning province. Liaoning is in the north of China, bordering the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea in the south.
Liaoning is the only province in northeast China that has both coastal areas and border areas. The province has a long and multifaceted history, outstanding people, magnificent landscapes, and a distinctive cultural heritage, and possesses a rich variety of tourism resources and products.
