Japanese animation film to be screened in Vientiane

The Embassy of Japan has called on the public to watch the animated movie “Jujutsu Kaisen 0”, which will be screened at the Major Cineplex Platinum at Vientiane Center this month to promote Japanese cinema.
“Jujutsu Kaisen 0” is a dark fantasy film that was released in 2021. It is based on the manga series “Jujutsu Kaisen 0” and is a prequel to the “Jujutsu Kaisen” manga series, both created by Gege Akutami.
The film was directed by Sunghoo Park and written by Hiroshi Seko. Its voice cast includes Megumi Ogata, Kana Hanazawa, Mikako Komatsu, Koki Uchiyama, Tomokazu Seki, Yuichi Nakamura and Takahiro Sakurai.
The film, produced by MAPPA and distributed by Toho, premiered theatrically in Japan in December 2021 and in the United States in March 2022. It was released in other regions throughout 2022.
It follows Yuta Okkotsu, a young student who becomes a sorcerer and seeks to control the cursed spirit of his childhood friend Rika Orimoto in Jujutsu High alongside other skilled mates.
Besides the story focused on Yuta and his friends, the filmmakers decided to expand the narrative from the original manga by adding new scenes focused on their mentor Satoru Gojo and his old friend and enemy Suguru Geto.
The film received positive reviews based on its accessible narrative and Yuta’s story. The fight sequences created by MAPPA as well as the film’s soundtrack were praised.
“Jujutsu Kaisen 0” will be screened at Major Platinum Cineplex on June 23. The Embassy of Japan has called on Lao audiences to enjoy the movie and update on the screening are available at  http://www.majorplatinumcineplex.la/
The Major Platinum Cineplex has collaborated with Movie Society Laos and M Pictures for this special screening. It has also urged the public to join special activities to win a lucky draw and have the chance to watch the film for free in the Thai Language.
People can like the Facebook page of Movie Society Laos and give their comments on why they want to watch this movie in order to be a winner in the lucky draw. Five people who submit the best comments will receive two tickets each and have a chance to watch the film during a special screening at 1 pm on Saturday.
