Laos earns over US$40 mn from coffee export in first half of 2022
Laos exported 14.559,89 tonnes of different varieties coffee worth more than US$41.02 million in the first six months of 2022.
According to the Lao Coffee Association (LCA), this included exports to Asian and European countries and the United States of America.
A total of 30.398,41 tonnes of coffee, valued at US$72.5 million, was exported last year.
In the first half of 2022, LCA recorded coffee exports worth more than US$33.5 million to Asian countries, while exports to the European market were valued at nearly US$7.5 million.
Last year, LCA exported more than 27,600 tonnes of coffee to Asian markets and earned nearly US$65 million. Exports to European countries in 2021 were valued at US$7.1 million while exports to the United States of America were worth over US$440,000.
The varieties of coffee that were exported included Arabica, Robusta, Excelsa, roasted, three-in-one and instant coffees.
LCA is promoting Lao coffee products to the outside world by participating in coffee events and fairs around the globe. Recently, it led a delegation of Lao coffee producers and entrepreneurs to the World of Coffee event held at Milan in Italy.
A number of international buyers expressed interest in Lao coffee and enjoyed its unique taste during the event.
This year, Laos is ranked amongst the world’s fifty coffee producing countries that produce coffee as well as distribute them to buyers around the world and also produce coffee on their own soil, according to the annual report by www.worldpopulationreview.com
Meanwhile, www.fluentincoffee.com has ranked Laos as 12th out of top 15 coffee producing countries with a record of 150,795 metric tonnes in 2022.
